Interesting fact: The Hazrat Sultan Mosque is located in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan. It is the largest mosque in Central Asia. At the suggestion of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the mosque was named Hazrat Sultan, which translates as Holy Sultan. Construction of the mosque began in June 2009, with 1,000 to 1,500 workers employed at one point. The mosque was officially opened to the public on July 6, 2012, and has become one of the most important buildings in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, which was known as Astana until 2019.
